Using in your course
Teaching staff
Teaching staff, you can embed or link UQ has a Blak history in your courses to help build your students’ knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their history at UQ.
The book is also available for your students to download in EPUB, PDF and HTML format to make it more accessible.
Embed in Learn.UQ Blackboard (Ultra)
- Copy the URL of the book.
- Click to open the Learning Resources section in your course.
- Click the + sign. A drop-down list will open.
- Select Create.
- Click Teaching tools with LTI connection:

- Click to edit the title (where it has New LTI Link…).
- Change to Visible to students.
- At Configuration URL enter the book’s URL.
- Add a Description.
- Click Save.
Note: You can click the More options dots to go back to edit the entry after you have saved it.
Add a link in Learn.UQ Blackboard (Ultra)
You can create a weblink or course link in the weekly folders in Learning Resources e.g. if you want your students to read the chapters in particular weeks.
Open Textbooks @ UQ
UQ has a Blak History is made through the Library’s Open Textbooks @ UQ program. The Library supports the adoption or creation of open educational resources, such as this open textbook, that are free for everyone. Open textbooks provide an alternative to commercial textbooks and benefit you, your students and the community. Find out how you can author, adapt or adopt open textbooks.
