You can structure your book and arrange the front matter, parts, back matter and glossaries via the Organise option in the side menu. The Pressbooks user guide has instructions on how to organise your book.

Front matter

Your book will be set up with a title page, Acknowledgment of Country, and introduction. You can add many additional types of front matter, including acknowledgments, prefaces, forwards and prologues.

Title page

Your book’s title page contains important publication and copyright information.

Acknowledgment of Country

Your book includes the University of Queensland’s Acknowledgment of Country text and Reconciliation Artwork, “A Guidance Through Time” by Casey Coolwell and Kyra Mancktelow. The Language of Relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples explains why incorporating an Acknowledgment is important.

Body

If you have existing content drafted in Microsoft Word, you can import an existing Word document into Pressbooks to create your book content.

The guide contains some instructions to help you add different types of content to your book:

Back matter

You can easily add different types of back matter. Some common examples of backmatter material include:

• bibliographies
• glossaries
• indexes
• suggested readings
• review statement
• version history.
